Once again Steiff have come up trumps with a wonderful UK Bear, this time based on a 1920s design by Richard Steiff. A feature of 1920s Steiff designs is the widely spaced ears which gives the face a very open and appealing look. In an addition of only 4000, this Bear is going to be popular for sure !
Paddington is coming soon ! At last and as you might expect, Paddington is late again, but on his way ! He has not forgotten his marmalade sandwich and suitcase, but on this occasion he has no wellie boots, - ( he was told not to wear them ).
1953 was an important year for Steiff since it was the 50th anniversary of the Leipzig Toy Fair where Richard Steiff launched his newly designed Teddy Bear and this white replica was made to celibrate 50 years of the Teddy Bear. Although small in size and simple in design this little bear has big huggability !
Made especially for the 2003 Birmingham England Spring Trade Fair, this little Bear comes complete with coloured ball and is a little charmer ! His edition is only 1500 and stocks are limited so don't delay.
There will be more Celebrations this Summer as it is 50 years since our Queen's Coronation and Steiff have made a really super Bear to Commemorate the event. It has a Royal Worcester pendant of our Queen and is in a luxury curly mohair. This Bear is one of the Best !
Pink Steiff Bears are always popular and this one has the added attraction of the Royal connection and a fine porcelain pendant by Wedgewood. This Bear has not been available to us so we have had to purchase from a Department store for which the Queen Mother Bear was exclusively made and so it is expensive, but with everything going for it and in an edition of under 2000, it is well worth the money.
Tipped mohairs always give a Bear depth of character and I think that the Brown Tipped is the best Bear of this year from Steiff. He is a good size, and his large ears set low down, add to the individuality of this Bear. There is the added advantage of wood wool stuffing and squeaker. Although in an edition of 5000, we are informed that the Bear is well sold out and I am not surprised !
The long awaited for UK Musical - the 1st ever - is here - (delivery end October). His music - Land of Hope and Glory - is the quintessence of Englishness which will appeal greatly to the overseas markets. This fine brown tipped Bear will be much in demand so order now so as not to be disappointed !
Golly Girl - a pair to Golly Boy (2001)is sure to be popular - her smiling face and smart outfit will liven up any Collection. Limited to only 1500 pcs, demand is sure to be high.
This is a very special item which has everything - a 13 cm Santa Bear with his sleigh loaded with presents, a darling little reddish brown deer, trees made of glazed limewood, all beautifully presented on an alder wood musical box which plays the ever popular "Silent Night".
The Carol singing Bear from Steiff is just what we need to get us into the Christmas spirit ! His hat is hand made in papier mache and with his music, woollen scarf and lantern he cuts quite a dash. Limited to only 2000 world wide, demand has already overtaken supply ! We have managed to acquire a few in 2004 from USA - now is your chance !
This is my favourite Christmas piece- what a fantastic idea - " Let's go skating!" No more blobbing out in front of the TV! - instead on with the woolly hat and scarf and go "fur" it ! The ice skater has already sold out so don't delay.
These are 2 differnt items and are available individually each at £99.95, and I will do separate photos etc in due course. The reindeer comes from a long Steiff pedigree of mohair reindeers and is in an edition of only 2000. The Rocking Horse is also 2000 and the flowing mane and tail gives the piece exciting movement.
First made in 1909 this Rolly Polly replica is a little charmer and was one of the fastest 2003 Steiff Bears to sell out. Limited to only 3000, he is sure to be a rarity in years to come, as Steiff have not made a world wide Rolly Polly Bear for many years. They made a Rolly Polly Hare in 2001 and this year have added a Rolly Polly Santa.
This was the "hottest" Steiff Bear of 2003 - we had more disappointed Collectors wanting this Bear than any other that I can remember. Our allocation from Steiff was sold out inside of 30 minutes on the telephone in February. However, due to exceptional demand, we have managed to purchase the odd one or two Titanics on the secondary market since Christmas, - hence the price- and this is the first time he has been is stock since last Summer, when we came back from a trip to Holland with two.
The Bear on Wheels has been in great demand and we had many collectors who we could not supply. Also, although on wheels, he is a very slow Bear as we did not have our full quota from Steiff until November ! The reason for the delay was because the Bear on Wheels is stuffed with wood wool and the process is takes time. We managed to find 3 in late November of which we have but one left - so don't delay !
Firstly, the 3 Bears with the Cart are 12cm, and this item is sold as a Collector's piece and not as a child's toy. The 1903 Leipzig Fair was a turning point in Steiff's history. Had Steiff not taken the PB Bear to Leipzig, (where the first order for 3000 teddies was taken) - we would not be here today. Steiff have done well to make this commemorative item and I would rate it as the best display piece that they have made in my time as a Steiff retailer. You can have fun arranging the crates and Bears and the wood and metal Cart is made by a small Bavarian craftstudio. Don't overlook this piece as only 1200 were made !
Limited to only 5000 pieces worldwide, Paddington, complete with his marmalade sandwich and suitcase, has been been a run away success and remember the words on his label - " Please look after this Bear. Thank you " ! We only have a few remaining so don't delay.
King Louie looks a real tearaway - with his wild looks and "sideways mohican hair style", however, don't worry, he won't bite ! In an edition of only 3000 world wide he will soon be an endngered species !
Baloo is an easy going lovable type, - the sort of Bear that never gets ruffled and always has a smile for you and will always be a loyal friend. In an edition of only 3000 world wide, he has been much in demand.
The delightful Jack in a Box was our customers favourite Steiff Christmas item and 25 of them sold out immediately. Everything about this piece is so nice, the alderwood box, the mohair Bear and the fact that he "does something" - ie jump up when you open the lid - In and edition of only 3000, if you did not get one over Christmas, now is your chance !
The English Bear is embroidered with the red rose, - an emblem that dates back to the Wars of the Roses when the protagonists - the House of York, and the House of Lancaster wore the red rose and white rose respectively. The House of York won, and so the red rose became the emblem of England, worn proudly recently, by England's victorious World Cup Rugby team.
The Scottish Bear is embroidered with the thistle and dates back to 1263 and was chosen as an emblem because its sharp prickles would help repell invaders, - an added deterrent to the harsh climate and craggy landscape !
The Irish Bear is embroidered with the green shamrock a small trefoil plant that was thought to charm away evil spirits and that St Patrick used to illustrate the Holy Trinity.
The Welsh Bear is embroidered with the daffodil born from the legend of St David- the patron saint of Wales and chosen because he considered that the daffodil was the fairest of all flowers.
Oh dear ! - the Santa Roly Poly lools a bit like me after the Christmas break ! - the diet beckons ! Limited to 5000 world wide, jointed and surface washable this piece is a must for any Christmas collection.
Oh dear ! - the Santa Roly Poly lools a bit like me after the Christmas break ! - the diet beckons ! Limited to 5000 world wide, jointed and surface washable this piece is a must for any Christmas collection.
This year (2004) is an important centenary and to mark it, Steiff have made the 43 PAB and it is special, because it has a button with the famous Steiff elephant. This button has only been used once before - (in 1904) and the tag is sewn into his side, because, in 1904, there was no ear tag. This Bear is exceptional in other ways being a super size, with deep curly mohair and the typical big bear Steiff look which I love. He is only availabe this year, so don't miss out. He also has 3 smaller friends -28cm -in three colours which are just as nice and are the next item.
Steiff and Royal Copenhagen porcelain have teamed up to produce a delightful boxed set of a fine blue Steiff Bear with porcelain pendant and Goldilocks figure. The set is limited and is definitely one for the discerning Collector. This is the first piece in what I anticipate will be a series.
I am sure all of you know that this is the Steiff year of the Elephant ! ( 100 years ago, Steiff first used an elephant stamped button and they are repeating the elephant motif just for this year only ). With this Bear, the elephant is on a medaillion attached to a collar. The Bear is in a fine and subtle shade of caramel and as usual the edition is 4,000 only. The Uk Bears always sell out so don't delay, and rermember, the elephant motif will not be repeated again.
This is such an adorable Bear ! In fact, on the Hugability scale, he is off the scale with a rating of 10+ ! Grizzly Ted is so unusual for Steiff and has special features usually associated with "artist" bears. Grizzly Ted is going to be a huge success and in an edition of only 2000 our allocation will be very limited which means this Bear will be available to all our regular customers and hopefully there will be some left over for casual internet customers, but first come first served !
This is the second Exhibition Bear and is sure to be a rapid sell out ! In 1904, Steiff were awarded a medal of excellence at the St Louis Expo USA and the Exhibition Bear carries a scaled down version of this famous medal. Please note, the edition is 1500 only and this Bear will be extremely scarce !
I love big Bears and this is one of the best. White Bears are something special, and this one, first made in 1907, but with boot button rather than brown black eyes, is the bes Steiff Bear this year. Don't delay - we are taking orders in March.
First made in 1953,in jet black mohair, in a very small edition (and as a result, original Bears from 1953 are very rare ), collectors now have the chance to add this most unusual Bear to their collection. Stuffed with wood shavings, a squeaker and glass eyes, and in an edition worldwide of only 3000, this Bear will be much in demand.
Made in an edition of only 3500 for the Uk and USA, Winnie the Pooh large will be a blast, and when I say blast, - I mean BLAST ! We are getting enquiries already! Don't miss out.
The PB 28 is 100 years old this year and was the first moving limbs Bear that was registered for utility model production. He has metal joints connected by metal rodds, shoe button eyes made of wood, and a replica wax nose. He has the elephant button and tag sewn in his side and also, he comes with an X ray photo to show the intermal rods.
Following on from last year's hugely successful Bear on Wheels, the Elephant on Wheels is made in an edition of only 1,000 and has the advantage of lovley cas iron wheels, the elephant button and a handsome red saddlecloth with his size, - 43- embroidered on.
This is the most appealing Rolly Polly - in my opinion - that Steiff have ever made, with his make believe grass, hand stitched applique flowers, and handsome blue bow. In an edition of 2004, he is selling well.
Pictured here sitting on the world, is the sought after Black Bear with collar. You can not have the world, but if you are quick, you may buy the Bear which is probably the most popular Steiff Bear of the year.
Good News ! The Steiff Christmas items are now in, and already some of these beautiful pieces are selling out ! The Silent Night musical Santa is in short supply and we only have 1 Christmas Pyramid left. Please call for availability and price.
This lovely pink musical bear has been an instant success, and as soon as we get delivery from Steiff, we sell out and wait for more. The combination of a very soft pink and the "Lady Diana tune" - Candle in the wind has proved to be a winning combination. Stocks are limited !
This musical Santa has proved to be this year's most popular item. In an edition of only 2000 and playing one of my favorite Christmas songs - Silent Night - this Bear is nearly sold out and we only have one or two left - don't delay!
This smart little Black Bear is a charmer. Made for the first Steiff Show at the Belfrey in July 2004, he has a Steiff golf ball plus bag which makes him unique, as previous golfing Bears by Steiff, have had golf clubs, but no ball ! This Bear in an edition of only 1500, is now nearly sold out. Don't delay.
Steiff seldom make mechanical items nowadays so the Rolly Drolly is a rarity. As the carriage is pulled along, both the Santa and the and the Bear rotate. This delightful piece, in and edition of only 1500, is for the discerning Collector. NB the Santa is 14cm and the Bear is 11 cm.
This magnificent Christmas centre piece is a joy to behold. When the candles are lit, the updraft turns the propellor and turns the tables - wonderful ! Count Von Zeppelin would be pleased as, when the candles burn down reducing the draft, you can alter the pitch of the propellors so that the tables keep turning. Only 1000 Pyramids have been made, and supply in short, so don't delay - although we are sold out, we may be able to get one or two more.
This is my favorite 2004 Christmas item - what could be better than a Bear in your Chistmas stocking ! - and not only that, the Bear is complete and not just the top half. We are nearly sold out, however, I am hoping that we will have a few left over to keep for our own collection.
I love Steiff Christmas Tree decorations, and this is no exception - blow the cost, there goes another £57 onto the value of our Christmas Tree ! - our Christmas Tree is now worth around £500 ! You can imagine what the insurance co. would say if ever we came to make a claim. Go on treat yourself !
Not all Bears can fly, but this one can ! With her neat little dress and soft white wings - real feather - this Angel is on her way to bring you a very merry Christmas ! - Nearly sold out !
Most of you will think of Turkey when you think of a Christmas bird so here's a sweet little gold bird that will bring to mind other things, maybe a tweety bird singing on Christmas Day ! This is the third Christmas bird, following on from the Robin and last year's blue tit and has been ever so popular. Buy now before he flies away !
Margaret Steiff's middle name was Appolonia, and this special Bear made after Margaret Steiff's very own Bear. Demand has been spectacular for this Bear and stocks are now very, very low.
Following on from the hugely successful Skater Bear, introduced last Christmas, Steiff have followed up with the Skier. This Bear was an immediate hit, and sales of the Skier gathered speed so that it is as if he has disappeared into a snow drift, but don't dismay, we have the Skier in stock !
Hunca Munca is a little charmer, and has been a best seller. Following on from the famous Beatrix Potter series which have been made already, - ( P. Rabbit, Mouse Taylor, Jeremy Fisher, Squirrel Nutkin, and Benjamin Bunny,) Hunca Munca sold out at Steiff very quickly, and due to late production - meaning we could not have them delivered last year - we have limited numbers in stock now - don't delay !
This is the last in the series of 70cm Bears introduced by Steiff Jackie in 1999, and Teddy Girl has been a legend ever since Nov. 1994 when a 1906 original fetched £110,000 at Christies auction in London! Steiff made a 40cm replica of Teddy Girl in 1997, which we have available in our Collector's department. This 70 cm is your last chance to buy a current Teddy Girl and in an edition of only 1,906, she is sure to sell out soon.
This wonderful green Bear is the first in a Richard Steiff series, and is significant inasmuch as this was the first Bear that he made incorporating the disc and pin joints which became the standard form of joint for the Teddy Bear used the world over ever since - sadly for Steiff, Richard Steiff never patented this invention. So now Steiff have made replicas in succession of all Richard Steiff's types of joint, starting with the string joint - PB 02, then the rod jointed PB 04 and now the 1908 disc and pin. In an edition of only 3,000 and being the first in a series this Bear is going to be a fast seller !
The original of this Teddy Clown made in 1926 lives in the Basle Puppenhausemuseum in Switzerland. In fine tipped mohair with centre seam this fine replica will grace any collection : Clown Bears have always been popular and this one, in an edition of only 3000 pieces world wide is fast selling out - don't delay !
This white replica celebrates his centenary this year, as it was exactly 100 years ago that Richard Steiff improved on his earlier string and rod joints and designed this Bear with cardboard disc joints. This system of jointing is still used today the world over, although, the discs are no longer cardboard. Wood proved to be much more durable, which was succeeded by plywood. In an edition of only 3000 pieces world wide this white Bear is proving to be very popular.
Every year the famous Margarete Steiff Co. come up with a fine Bear for the UK market but this year the UK Collector's Bear is exceptional. The deep curly apricot/gold Schulte mohair is dazzling and makes this Bear a "must-have" !

Limited to only 1500 and with a double appeal -(Steiff and Disney), this is one of the best Bears on the market this year.
The four in hand Lowenbrau dray wagon is an exceptional piece and was made in an edition of only 500. The beautifully made wooden wagon and hand crafted shire horses have a wooden base with inset grooves to secure the wagon wheels, and the set is supplied with a perspex cover that fits over, so that the piece can be kept out on display and dust free. The set is completed by three Bears dressed as draymen, one as driver, and the other two, loading hands. The size given 97 cms, is the length.

This is a charming set as the lovely spotted Dalmatian, - Margarete's favorite - comes with a photo of her with her beloved dog ! I really like this combination - the picture of Margarete, sitting contentedly with her Dalmatian is very special.
The Beatrix Potter series gets better and better - the last two in the line-up - Mouse Taylor and Hunca Munca have positively flown off the shelves ! Order now so as not to be disappointed !
The Roloplan is a gem - you see Richard Steiff did not only design the Teddy Bear as we know it today, but also, a whole range of toys, kites, scooters, go-karts etc. and even the Steiff factory itself, - a revolutionary design using glass panels that is still extant today. The Roloplan was entirely Ricard's invention, so this set is a fine reminder of his inventiveness.

There has been a Disney Florida USA Festival for many years, and, in 2005, for the first time ever, Japan hosted a Disney Festival in Tokyo. For many years there has been a Disney Festival in Florida and in 2005 for the first time ever, Disney hosted a Festival in Tokyo, and commissioned Steiff to make a Winnie the Pooh to celebrate the event. He was made in 3 sizes, 24 cm limited 1000, 32 cm limited 500, and 42 cm limited 50. All those Bears purchased at the Festival, come with a special Disney pin - which is an important accessory, meaning that the Bear is worth a lot less without the pin. We only have only 1 in the 32cm size .
The charming Muffler Bear with his hand knitted red scarf is a 1934 replica, made for Japan. In off white mohair, with wood wool filling, the Muffler is very very huggable - one of my favorites ! In an edition of only 1500, he is a must have !

Made in genuine beige mohair in 2002, with wood wool filling, he is a replica from 1910 and in an edition of only 1500, is very sought after. We sold out of this Bear in 2002, but a recent "Bear Hunt" turned up several, I am sure we will not have them for long.

The Brush Dax is an important example of the ingenuity of its designer, Richard Steiff. Apart from inventing the Teddy Bear, he liked to design functional items, such as a cigarette lighter, the roloplan, and a valve for pneumatic tyres : some of his ideas never went into full production, but were made as a special series and the Brush Dax is such an item. When I first saw it I knew right away that there was a place in my collection ! Limited to 1500 pcs.

I hope someone has been "looking after this Bear" because he was supposed to arrive last Autumn ! This is the second mohair limited edition of this famous Bear from Steiff - this time with black hat and blue coat and of course with suitcase. Stocks are limited.
Cinderella is the 1st in a new Collector's Fairy Tales series, this one from the Brothers Grimm. She is beautifully modelled in cream alpaca and wears a magnificent outfit made from finest raw silk and organza, and on her left paw, is perched a charming felt dove. In an edition of only 500, we have but one left.
Cinderella from Brothers Grimm, is the 1st in a new Fairytale series. As you can see, she is magnificently attired in wild silk and organza with intricate embroidery and on her left paw is perched a charming dove. This is our last piece, as, in an edition of only 500, Cinderella was much in demand.
This is the 3rd Steiff Festical Bear, and as such is not an UK or Worldwide edition, however, there is no separate Festival section on our web site. This Bear was only available at The Steiff Sommer 08, and was very popular - you can see why, - the soft pink mohair, and delciate blue embroidery make a fine combination - and will enhance any collection. The 1909 Replica is famous because Margarete, herself, was pictured in her wheel chair, holding a Bear, and the 1909 is a replica of this Bear.In fine light blond mohair, excelsior stuffing and hand stitched nose, he also has the underscored Steiff trademark button. Limited 1909 pcs.
This charming duo, speak for themselves : I love the fur lined parka - it looks so warm and snug ! Equally charming is the little alpaca penguin with outstretched mini wings. The edition is 1,500 pieces only.
This is the 1st in a Lladro Seasons set, and as you would expect of an Autumn Bear, is a warm ochre-gold. Note the hand made floral head dress an example of the best of lladro craftmanship. The edition is 2000 only.
This fine Bear headlined the Steiff 2007 range and was a best seller. The Bear celebrated the introduction into the Steiff range of the so called growler : this was a Steiff invention, although they never managed to secure the patent, and consequently it is in general use throughout the Bear industry.
The special feature of this Bear is its colour : Steiff have simulated a faded black - this gives a "tipped" appearance, although the itention was to make a black Bear, that had been kept in bright conditions, meaning that the ends of the black mohair had faded. This "faded black" is finely contrasted with a soft pink bow, and the Bear has outlined boot button eyes.
When Steiff took back the Steiff Festival from Gunther Pfeiffer in 2006, one of their innovations was a special mini Sommer Bear, in an edition of only 130. These are very sought after, because they are cute, and also, because of the low edition - normally, 500 is the minimum. The colour is a rich browny gold and not 2 tone, as the photo suggests.
This was the 3rd Steiff Sommer Festival Bear, and the "rose" colour proved to be very successful, incoporating the embroidered techique, orginally used in the Club "Flowers".
This is fifth Steiff Sommer mini Festival Bears, and I think, the best. Steiff have chosen a slightly smaller size, in a subtle off white, which is very effectively complimented by an exqusitie flower decoration.
